A heavy rain warning is now in force for the whole of Fiji group.

The Nadi Meteorological service said an intensifying trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over the country and is expected to affect the group till tomorrow.

Localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding. 

A strong wind warning is also in force for land areas of Viti Levu, Kadavu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group.

The Nadi Meteorological service said it is also monitoring the river levels as the rain bands are hanging on top of the Fiji group.

Meanwhile, Laucala Bay recorded 168.5mm of rainfall, Monasavu received 71.0mm of rainfall, Lautoka recorded 50.3mm, Nausori got 50mm while Nadi recorded 61mm of rainfall since yesterday. 

Here in Suva, rain water has been seen overflowing from the drains onto the roads in a number of areas.

The National Disaster Management Office Director, Manasa Tagicakibau has advised people to start making preparations for all appropriate precautionary measures that need to be taken as flooding could be experienced in low lying areas.
