The heavy rain warning has been cancelled for Eastern Viti Levu however the heavy rain warning is in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti.

The forecasters at the Nadi Weather Office say the Eastern division will not experience prolonged heavy rain today however rain is still expected later today when the tropical depression takes a South Easterly direction.

The forecasters say people in Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau, Kadavu and Lomaiviti should be prepared for the worst.

Localised heavy rain may also lead to flash flooding.

Since 9am yesterday, Laucala Bay received 167.7mm of rainfall, Navua received 162.1mm of rainfall and Lomaivuna received 66.6mm of rain.

The centre of the tropical depression was loacted about 100 kilometres North of Labasa at 8am today. 

It is moving North North East at about 12 kilometres per hour.
