The heavy rain warning previously in force for the Eastern half of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands is now cancelled.

Nadi Weather forecasters say a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain has slowly moved away from the country however a high pressure system is situated far south-west which is directing strong winds and heavy swells.

Strong southeast winds are expected with average speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and momentary gusts to 60 kilometers per hour.

Rain is expected to ease and clear from the west today.

However, a damaging heavy swell warning remains in force for all low-lying coastal areas of southern and western Viti Levu from Korovou to Nadi, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lomaiviti, southern Lau, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group.
