Heavy rain has resulted in flash flooding in some parts of Tailevu areas as a flash flood warning is in place for low lying areas in the Eastern and North eastern parts of the larger islands.
The Nabilo River burst its banks last night and water is currently rising and resident Rajnesh Kumar said 16 houses are under threat from the rising flood waters.
Works Ministry spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete confirms that in Naitasiri, Savu road is underwater and the approaches to the new Naqali bride are flooded and closed to all traffic.
The Korovou flats and Deepwater road are under three feet of flood waters and closed to all traffic.
Waqainabte said flood waters under the Naqali bride is one meter away from touching the bridge and the Navuicini area in Naitasiri is also flooded.
Nadi Weather Office Director Rajendra Prasad said a trough of low pressure approaching Fiji is expected to bring heavy rain in most parts of the country today.
