It has started raining heavily in Rakiraki and flooding in low lying areas has started.
Rakiraki police say Naqoro Flats are under 2 ft flood water while the market place, bus stand and the town area closer to the market is also under water.
All low lying areas and Irish crossings are closed to traffic as it is under water
People are advised not to cross flooded rivers and streams.
