The Nadi Weather Office has predicted heavy rain and flash flooding in the eastern division tonight and tomorrow.

Director Rajendra Prasad said an intensifying trough of low pressure is approaching Fiji from the west and is expected to lie across the group overnight tomorrow while another trough is drifting onto the country from the north.

Prasad said heavy rain will be expected with a few thunderstorms in Vanua Levu, Taveuni, the Lomaiviti Group, Lau and interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu.

He said people can expect heavy rain at times from later tomorrow.

Prasad is calling on people living in low lying areas to be on alert when it rains heavily as they will experience flooding.
