The Naqali bridge remains closed to all traffic this afternoon as heavy rain continues in the Naitasiri highlands.

Police confirm that water level at Naqali is still rising while the crossings at Waikavika and Waisomo road from Naqali are closed to traffic as the approaches have been washed away.

In Nausori, the Vuci South, Waituri and Waila feeder roads are flooded and closed to light traffic at the moment but waters are slowing receding.

There is a landslide along Namara road and the road is closed to all traffic at this stage.

There is also a landslide along the Queens highway at Veisari near Namukalau settlement but the highway remains open to traffic as the PWD clears the debris from the road.

Nadi Weather office Director Rajendra Prasad said a trough of low pressure is lying over Northern parts of the country which is expected to bring in heavier rainfall later today.

He said this may cause flash flooding in Navua, Suva and Nausori, Eastern parts of Vitilevu, Labasa, Savusavu and the Lomaiviti group.

Similar weather is expected in the Western Division from early next week.

People living in low lying areas are urged to take precautions.
