Heavy rain causes landslides in Nausori
An elderly woman and her daughter in law in Korociri-ciri, Nausori had a lucky escape when their three bedroom house got buried under mud however they managed to get out of their house when landslide started.
Owner of the house, Subhash Chand said only his wife and mother were at home at the time of the incident.
He said they are trying to recover some items from the house as family of seven is staying in the neighborhood.
In a similar incident, a house in Waila Feeder road, Nausori is partially buried under mud and debris after a landslide yesterday afternoon.
A resident, Rajesh Prasad said two other houses are under threat and their family members have been moved to neighbors home for safety.
According to Prasad, the family who lost their house is taking shelter at his home as their belongings were taken out of the house last evening.
Meanwhile, more than three families of Lakena Nausori have been shifted to safer homes in the area as a precaution after a landslide destroyed neighboring homes yesterday afternoon.
Three houses went down the hill at Lakena Number one Hill as a result of landslide.
