After sixty six open heart surgeries ever since it was set up, the FRIENDS of Fiji Heart Foundation is looking for another successful outing next year.
One of the trustees of the foundation, Deepak Singh said coming to Fiji and providing free heart operations has become an annual event for them.
A team of 47, consisting of cardiac surgeons, doctors and nurses were in the country at the Lautoka hospital where 19 patients underwent cardiac surgeries.
Singh said they are hoping to increase the number of surgeries next year.
The foundation was formed by the former Fiji residents currently living in NZ, annually raises funds in and outside of New Zealand to send a team of volunteer specialist doctors and nurses to Fiji to perform the operation.
The team leaves our shore today.
