A hearing date has been set by the Fiji Court of Appeal, for the Appeal of the former Town Clerk at the Nasinu Town Council.

Represented by Rajendra Chaudhry, Jaswant Kumar appeared before Justice Priyantha Fernando seeking leave of the court to proceed in an appeal of his conviction and 12-month sentence.

FICAC Prosecutor Madhawa Tennakoon asked the court for time to file objections and suggested to the court that the hearing of the appeal be heard on Monday next week.

Justice Fernando has given both parties till Friday 4th June 2010 to file their written submissions and set the hearing date for 7th June 2010.

Kumar was convicted of Abuse of Office earlier this year.
