The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria today provided a grant of $9 million to the Health Ministry to improve the tuberculosis prevention methods.

This grant will help in reducing risk of patients contracting the severe form of multi drug resistant tuberculosis.

The grant is intended to contribute in upgrading the laboratory systems in the main divisional facilities, supporting the National TB program, strengthening the pharmaceutical inventory activities in the divisions and strengthening the health information systems.

Global Fund's Portfolio Manager, Qi Cui while signing the grant agreement with the Health Minister, Dr Neil Sharma today highlighted the Health Ministry needed such a grant to boost its operations.
