In an effort to improve health standards in rural areas, health officials are visiting Nadoi village in Rewa, after the village was classified as Healthy by a Ministry of Health Programme.
Permenant Secretary for Health Dr Sala Saketa speaking from Nadoi village said this is in line with their ongoing campaign to try and uplift health standards for villages and other settlements in rural areas.
Dr Saketa said they are visiting Nadoi village today with World Health Organisation representatives to see how the initiative is running.
Meanwhile Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma received the Certificate of Accreditation of the WHO Measles Laboratory presented by the WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific Dr Shin Young Soo at Mataika House, Tamavua yesterday.
The laboratory will perform test on measles cases not only in Fiji but other Pacific countries as well in the elimination of measles by 2012.
