Government is taking a very pro active stand to ensure that Non Communicable diseases are addressed.
That was the sentiment of Health Minister Doctor Neil Sharma while opening the first ever National Health Symposium last night.
Addressing the medical professionals as well as representatives from the Fiji Nursing and Pharmaceutical Association as well as from the Physiotherapists field, Dr Sharma said that the theme of the Symposium "NCD and Cancer" is an area of great concern for the Government and the country as a whole.
He added that the outcome from this two day symposium will contribute to the final draft of a new decree.
He added that apart from the drafting of a new Act, Government has also contributed to ensuring that Health issues are a priority with the purchase of close to $9.4 million worth of equipment that has been sent out to the three main divisional hospitals in Labasa, Lautoka and in Suva.
The two day symposium continues this morning.
