The Ministry of Health today organised a workshop for its Doctors from Fiji's various divisions primarily to educate them in detecting patients who intend to commit suicide.
National Advisor for Non Communicable Diseases, Dr Isimeli Tukana highlighted that this workshop was necessary as the suicide numbers have increased in the previous years.
According to Dr.Tukana the workshop will enable Doctors to help those patients who have lost faith in life.
A total of 218 cases of suicide were reported last year compared to 168 in 2007 and 154 in 2006.
