The Health Ministry is now looking at adding sugar and trans-fat reduction to the proposed salt reduction policy.

This is part of the Ministry's aim to decrease sugar, salt and trans-fat in products and foods by five percent.

Speaking at the Consultation on Healthier Food and Non Alcoholic Drinks Program yesterday, National Advisor for NCDs Isimeli Tukana said sugary and fatty foods largely contribute to NCDs.

Dr Tukana said the Ministry continues to monitor the marketing of food and non-alcoholic products so that consumers mostly children are not lured.
