In an effort to maintain a healthy youth population, the health ministry has completed conducting a school health survey on 25 schools around the country.

The Global school health survey is a survey conducted primarily among students aged 13B15 years, and is an initiative of the World Health Organization in collaboration with United Nations' UNICEF, UNESCO, and UNAIDS, in which Fiji as well as Niue are the first two countries in the pacific region to conduct the survey.

Adolescent Health Project officer Sister Sulueti Duvaga said that  the survey will help establish programs, and advocate for resources for school and youth health programs and policies.

Duvaga added that it will also determine the trends in health behaviors and protective factors for use in evaluation of school and youth health promotion.
