Travellers coming into the country from Australia and New Zealand are being advised to try and minimize contact with the general public for upto three days as the Ministry of Health battles to stop the spread of Influenza A H1N1.
As the Ministry treats two cases of confirmed H1N1 in Fiji, Acting Deputy Secretary for Public Health Dr. Josaia Samuela said such measures would help prevent the spread of the virus.
Dr. Samuela also confirms that the family members of the two affected persons have been tested and so far the results are negative.
The first case of Influenza A H1N1 was confirmed on Saturday, a 36yr old man and the second case, involving a 32yr old man also from Nadi was confirmed with the virus yesterday. Both patients came into contact with infected persons while in Australia.
