The Interim Minister for Health said they have started distributing $20,000 worth of relief supplies which was donated by Flour Mills of Fiji.

Doctor Jiko Luveni said they had approached some corporate bodies to help those that have been affected by the flooding, and the Ministry is grateful to FMF for their assistance in giving food supplies. She adds several teams are out at various evacuation centres distributing the food.

Dr Luveni also revealed that there are several teams carrying out inspections at villages which have been hit hard and are also advising villagers on what to do to prevent the outbreak of diseases such as leptospirosis and typhoid.

She says they have also been providing health services in the form of free checkups, providing water and medical supplies to those who need it at the evacuation centres.
