The Ministry of Health is doing all they can to counter the Brain Drain in the Health sector.

Interim Health Minister Doctor Jiko Luveni said that ideally CWM should have five doctors attending patients at the General outpatient ward however this cannot be met as there is a shortage of doctors.

She also adds that they have looked at the issue affecting the General Outpatient Ward at the CWM and have recruited graduates from the Fiji School of Medicine who are currently completing their rural posting assignments. She said these graduate doctors will see the doctor shortage in 2009 become a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Devika Sharma of Raiwaqa expressed concern that she had to wait for seven hours to see a doctor.

Fijivillage visited the Hospital this afternoon and it was revealed that close to 65 patients were still to be consulted with only one doctor on duty.
