The Vicar General of the Catholic Church of Fiji, Father Beni Kaloudau confirms that the head of the Vatukoula parish has been relieved of his duties.

Speaking to Fijivillage this morning, Father Kaloudau said that Father Nemesio Kolikoli is not serving as a priest as he is now in custody. 

He said Father Iosefo Tuvere is now looking after the Vatukoula parish.

Father Kaloudau said the church will await the court’s decision before the next step is taken.

He added that the decision to dethrone a Catholic priest when convicted will be made in Rome.

Kolikoli is facing two counts of rape and four counts of indecent assault.

The alleged incident occurred on separate occasions between 2004 to 2012.
