A head count within the civil service has revealed that an estimated 6000 people listed under various ministries are unaccounted for on the books and the PSC is not aware whether they remain on the government pay roll and how this discrepancy has come about.
Speaking to Fijivillage, PSC Chairman Josefa Serulagilagi revealed that they are trying to establish if these people are still employed by the government.
Serulagilagi said the discrepancies in staff numbers has been found in several ministries and departments.
