Jarryd Hayne's future in the NFL will rest in the hands of the San Francisco 49ers' new head coach.
Jed York, the 49ers' 35‑year‑old co‑owner and chief executive says the team had compiled a secret shortlist of potential coaches after Jim Tomsula was sacked just two hours after Sunday's end to the team's 11‑loss, five‑win season.
It will be up to the new coach to decide if Hayne and other 49ers players stay with the team, along with the offensive, defensive and special teams’ coordinators.
The new coach says his not going to make any decisions on players.
Hayne will depart San Francisco for Sydney today for a holiday, but said he would return to the 49ers in April for pre‑season training if they still want him.
