Parramatta star Jarryd Hayne has been ruled out of Australia's team for the Four Nations rugby league tournament because of a hamstring injury.

Hayne missed Kangaroos training yesterday to have scans and team medical staff later confirmed a partial tear to the hamstring tendon.

The winger will be out of action for at least six weeks.

Hayne said that he wants to wish the boys well for the tournament and now will have to focus on his rehab and getting ready for the next season.

A replacement player has not been named as yet.

The Kangaroos play their first match on Sunday night against Papua New Guinea in Sydney.

The tournament starts on Saturday when New Zealand plays England in Wellington.
