New South Wales fullback and Origin one man of the match Jarryd Hayne scored a try and was in devastating form as he helped the Blues beat the Queensland Maroons 12-8 in the opening match of the 2014 State of Origin Series.

Playing in his 18th origin match Hayne was a constant threat to the Maroons defence.
  
New South Wales have delivered one of the most stirring defensive efforts in the state's history to give them a good chance of winning the Origin title and ended their eight year drought of not winning at Suncorp stadium.

The Blues other try came from Brett Morris while Trent Hodkinson kicked a penalty.

Meanwhile, Veteran Darius Boyd scored two tries for Queensland.

The second game of the State of Origin will be held on the 18th of next month.
