New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters said the next elections should held in March 2009 under the current electoral system.

When Fijivillage questioned Peters what New Zealand and the Pacific Islands Forum will do next as the interim Prime Minister has made it clear that the next elections will be held under a new electoral system, Peters asked what the journalists will do.

He maintained that a new electoral system cannot be enacted as law by the current interim government although Bainimarama had maintained that Fiji will go to the polls under a new system.
