Hailstorm hits Sigatoka
Branch Manager for P&T Express Courier, Asab Hussein Shah said it was raining very heavily in Sigatoka today and around 3 o'clock the town experienced small of ice falling with rain.
Meanwhile, the people of North Eastern side of Kadavu also had the same experience this morning.
The Duty Forecaster at the Nadi weather Office has confirmed non-severe hail storm in Sigatoka and Kadavu and said their observer in Kadavu reported this morning that hail fell in Burelevu, Nadeva district between 5am and 6am.
It was not a severe hail with no damages reported.
Hail is a frozen form of precipitation generally associated with severe thunderstorms and falls in small balls of ice.
Meanwhile the weather office said more heavy rain is expected for the interior and Eastern parts of the main islands later today.
It has been confirmed that in the last 24 hours Suva and Laucala Bay received 264mm of rain which was the highest around the country.
However, in areas where rain is really needed Ba, Lautoka and Labasa received less than 1mm of rain.
A trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over the Fiji group.
