HK 7s starts today
The Hong Kong Sevens is very special compared to other tournaments in the IRB World Sevens Series because it offers the first prize-money of US $100,000 to the winning team and also has 30 points on offer.
The top six teams from the six pools will qualify for the quarter finals while the other two will come as the best runners-up.
The Digicel Fiji Sevens side will be defending their title at the So Kon Po Stadium, and according to team manager Jope Tuivanuavou, they will try their best not to let the title slip away from their hands.
New Zealand Sevens coach Gordon Tietjens said Hong Kong Sevens is a magical tournament.
USA Sevens coach Al Caravelli said they will be out to prove again in Hong Kong how serious his team is after reaching their first ever final in the series in Australia Sevens last weekend.
The Hong Kong Sevens tournament starts today at 9:30pm with the opening match between Samoa and Italy.
Fiji's opening pool match will be against Thailand at 10:14pm.
Today all the team's will play one match each and in the second day tomorrow, there will be final round of pool games with the quarterfinals, semifinals and final to be played on Sunday.
