Rugby bad boy Zac Guildford has admitted he is an alcoholic after being handed another lifeline by the New Zealand Rugby Union today.

The NZRU reinstated the troubled winger to professional rugby and the Crusaders today after a disciplinary hearing over his latest alcohol related incident.

Guildford's career was thrown into turmoil when he was accused of punching a young man at a party in January.

That incident followed numerous alcohol related indiscretions, including his much publicised drunken rampage in Rarotonga in late 2011, for which he served a four month suspension.

The 24 year old fronted a press conference in Wellington saying that he has finally come to terms with his issue.

Guildford spent 28 days in a rehabilitation facility which he said opened his eyes to his problem.

The Crusaders take on the Bulls at 6.35pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile on Friday at 6.35pm, the Highlanders play the Hurricanes while the Waratahs take on the Cheetahs at 8.20pm.
