As the prices of food items continue to increase, the Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has called on families to grow more of their own food.

In a statement this afternoon, Commodore Bainimarama said growing your own food means that ensuring to affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food for all people.

He said while it is healthy, it is also cost affective to esnure sufficient supply of food crops for families.

Commodore Bainimarama has also requested the Ministry of Agriculture and NGO's to provide training and support to encourage people to grow their own produce.

He also urged people to buy more produce from local farmers as a whole range of produce continue to be imported for local consumption.
