In its effort to assist the street kids and reduce the crime rate in Fiji, a group has come forward to teach the street kids on ways to generate income and make a better life for themselves.
In an interview with Fijivillage News, Military Police Liaising Officer and Co-ordinator for the five week training programme, Iferemi Buaserau said this initiative started with the aim of removing the street kids from the streets of Suva and putting them in a better place.
About 13 street kids are now taking part in the five week programme where they are learning carpentry work and while two weeks remain for the first programme to end, the street kids have managed to build a casket and sell it.
The boys are now focusing on boat building.
