The Fiji Human Rights Group New Zealand has made a special appeal to New Zealand Immigration to reconsider the student visa application for George Nacewa and the travel ban on the Permanent Secretary at the President’s Office Rupeni Nacewa.

In a statement issued earlier today, the Group’s President Santa Maharaj confirmed that they have requested the authorities in NZ to allow George Nacewa to apply for a new student visa for the coming year.

Maharaj said that their organization is also assigned to pray to New Zealand authorities to uplift the travel ban on Rupeni Nacewa is a separate matter and have written to the NZ government to consider sympathetically towards uplifting the ban as the matter is more of a technical nature, rather than a general travel ban policy.

He said they have given additional information for his case and told the NZ Acting High Commissioner to Fiji Caroline McDonald that they will meet all their requirements to enable them to uplift the travel ban on Rupeni Nacewa.

Similarly, Maharaj said the case regarding George Nacewa to apply for a new student visa and permit is also technical in nature and a total separate application has been made to the Minister Immigration to reconsider his plight.

The New Zealand Immigration Department has acknowledged in an email to Maharaj of receiving the additional information and request letter.
