The groundbreaking ceremony of the Navuso Bridge in Naitasiri funded by the Chinese government scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed to a later date after a delay in the government machinery.

China's Ambassador to Fiji, Cai Jinbiao has raised concern that the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority has also demanded duty to be levied on all materials from China to be used in the construction of the new Navuso bridge.

Jinbioa said he has requested the Prime Minister's office to assist in this matter as they want the materials to be duty free.

Jinbiao said there has also been a delay from the Public Works Department to clear the place where the bridge will be constructed.

FIRCA and PWD are expected to comment later this afternoon.
