Three players who featured for the Vodafone Fiji Bati in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup will be part of the Overseas Fijians team.

Aaron Groom, Alipate Tani and Ilisoni Vono are the senior players in the Overseas Fijian team that will play against the Fiji Residents in the Battle of the Bati this Thursday.

Fiji National Rugby League General Manager Tomi Finau also said some NRL  players have not been confirmed.


The Overseas Fijians arrived in the country awhile ago and they will be hosted by the Fiji Residents in a welcome dinner at the Novotel hotel tonight.

The Battle of the Bati will also decide the players that will fill a few vacant spots in the Fiji Bati side as the NRL players qualify automatically. 

Some of the players who will be part of the Vodafone Fiji Bati include Marika Koroibete, Petero Civoniceva, Akuila Uate, Jason Bukuya, Semi Radraradra, Daryl Millard, Wes Naiqama, Kevin Naiqama, Tariq Sims and Ashton Sims.

Jarred Hayne will play for Fiji if he is not selected in the Australian team.

The Battle of the Bati kicks off at 7pm this Thursday at the ANZ Stadium.

The Rugby League World Cup kicks off on the 29th of October in England.
