A grant of one million US dollars has been given to the University of the South Pacific by the India Government to be channelled through the Asian Development Bank.

A delegation from the ADB and India Government met with USP Vice Chancellor Rajesh Chandra who said through this grant, the Government of India is providing assistance to the 12 member countries of the University, and this will go a long way in bridging the digital divide in the Pacific Islands.

Chandra said the focus of the grant funding, are the upgrade of components of USPNet the expansion of e-learning and DFL (distance and flexible learning) programs and the establishment of strategic alliances with key universities and institutions in India.
