Meanwhile, the National Fire Authority advises people to stay in the kitchen when they cook and to also advise children not to play with matches.
This is after two fires this week left two families homeless in the Western Division.
Initial investigations into the first fire at Yalandi, Lautoka on Wednesday indicate that a child was playing while the second fire at Kaunitoni St in Waiyavi, Lautoka yesterday was believed to have started by unattended cooking.
NFA Chief Fire Officer Tupou Saubulinayau said that NFA continues to emphasize the need for the cook to stay in the kitchen until the food is cooked as unattended cooking is a growing concern in the country which now is becoming one of the major causes of home fires in Fiji.
The NFA also advises parents to tell their children that playing with matches is dangerous and has negative consequences.
