A 67 year old grandfather of Lami is in police custody for allegedly raping and indecently assaulting an 8 year old girl over a period of time.
Assistant spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said the man was arrested and charged last night and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.
The victim and the suspect are from the same settlement.
The matter was reported to police when the girl relayed the information to her mother.
