A traditional reconciliation ceremony has taken place this afternoon between Marist Brothers High School and Suva Grammar School in Lambert Hall.
Earlier, all male students of Suva Grammar and a handful of girls accompanied their teachers and old scholars by walking to Flagstaff.
The “veisorosorovi” ceremony was being done in light of the recent brawls earlier this month.
Speaking first, Marist head boy Jone Veisamasama thanked Suva Grammar for coming to Marist in the middle of their busy schedule to make this afternoon’s event happen where the two schools could resolve their conflict.
In response, the two head perfects of Grammar spoke.
Head girl Talei Gadekilakeba raised the question of the point of fighting when everybody is a citizen of the country.
Gadekilakeba has proposed that the idle Grammar-Marist Shield in the Suva Grammar cabinet be introduced for a sporting event to promote sportsmanship between the two schools.
Her proposal was received with applaud and cheers.
Also present during the ceremony were Ministry of Education officials and police were also present to witness the event.
