Govt’s decision will benefit farmers
Jain Kumar said farmers will not have to contribute to the Commission however he said that the Fiji Sugar Corporation should not do all the operational work of the Fiji Sugar Marketing Company after it is wound up.

The Commission is in charge of handling disputes and related matters.
The Fiji Sugar Marketing Company which is the marketing agent for FSC for offshore markets will also be wound down and its assets, operations and functions will be transferred to the FSC.
The Sugar Research Institute of Fiji will be undergo the reform process as well and a section of the Sugar Institute Act which allows for the provision of extension services to cane growers by the institute, will now be assumed by FSC.
