The Methodist Church trying to pursue another round of talks with the Prime Minister is useless because our decision stands and that is, there will be no Annual Methodist Church Conference come August.

These are the sentiments of Information Permanent Secretary, Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni who said their decision is final adding the government will not change their stance after discussions were held by some church executives to approach Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama again to reconsider their decision to cancel.

The Methodist Church conference is an annual event for the church where millions of dollars are raised to pay for church debts and operations.

Last week, Church President Rev Ame Tugawe and General Secretary Rev Tuikilakila Waqairatu had talks with Bainimarama, where he told them not to discuss political issues and where he also made it clear that two Church Minister Rev Manasa Lasaro and Rev Tomasi Kanailagi must be removed from the church conference.

Meanwhile, the Vanua of Rewa are still waiting for the Church to formally notify them of the cancellation of the conference.
