Attorney General and Communications Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has stated in Parliament that the government was previously caught in the stone age as far as technology was concerned.
Sayed-Khaiyum said when other countries were getting online registration of companies and titles, Fiji had to take one year to register a company.
He made these comments while responding to a question from Opposition MP, Mosese Bulitavu who asked as to what is the work done by the company Pacific Technologies Limited based at the government ITC and how much has been paid so far for services rendered and when they are expected to complete work.
Sayed Khaiyum said by the end of this year people will see online registration and searches of titles, online registration of companies and online registration of birth, deaths and marriages.
He added that records of all members of the Land Owning Units will also be digitized which will create proper records for the distribution of the lease money.
Sayed-Khaiyum also stated the Pacific Technologies Limited is not based at the government ITC.
He said Pacific Technologies Limited has not raised any invoices nor has government paid any monies to Pacific Technologies Limited.
