Government will spend over $43.7 million on roads throughout the country for this year alone.

That was the revelation made by the Permanent Secretary for Works and Transport Cama Tuiloma yesterday while launching the "Arrive Alive" campaign where he stressed the need for all stakeholders to work together to ensure that Fiji does not lose any more lives on our roads due to carelessness.

Tuiloma also stated that the commitment to road safety was evident through investments poured into the maintenance, improving and construction of new roads.

He also revealed that another $40US million will be invested through the Malaysian government loan for road rehabilitation in the next three years and an additional $36 million for the construction and completion of the Kings Road.

He also called for the stakeholders to take a pro-active stand as the road death toll for this year stands at 24 compared to 18 for the same period last year.

The Campaign will see stickers being handed out as well as colorful slap on wrist bands handed out to road users.
