Changing policies towards Fiji by traditional and non-traditional partners will now see the Fiji government realign its Foreign Missions to affect revised foreign policy priorities.
The decision was made by cabinet after submissions by the Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola yesterday.
Cabinet has also approved the opening of Fiji's Missions in Indonesia, South Africa and Brazil, in 2011.
Ratu Inoke said since 2006, significant political developments in Fiji have necessitated a critical internal review of aspects of Fiji's foreign policies and the Ministry's requisite delivery mechanisms to bring about the desired outcomes for the people of Fiji.
He said Fiji's relations with her traditional allies including the regional organizations, and certain international organizations, have largely been negatively impacted due to discriminating and isolationist policies imposed by them.
Ratu Inoke said it is inevitable that Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reviews its policy priorities in the light of changing policies towards Fiji by traditional as well as non traditional partners including the regional and international organizations.
