The Education Ministry has reiterated that new teachers who will be taking their first postings at outer islands will not pay for their passages.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the Government will pay all passages for its teachers, which is an old policy from the Ministry.

The teachers are advised if they cannot make it in time because of transport problems, to report to their respective Divisional Education office.

Meanwhile about 150 new graduates who are part of the replacement batch for the retired teachers will be paid accountable advance which will help them by personal items and food supplies.

These teachers are given the preference because they do not have access to supermarkets.  

Meanwhile Education Minister, Filipe Bole has stressed that Term Two will start next week as scheduled. Filipe Bole said there are alot of speculation and talk of changes to the school hours, however he stresses that this is not true as Term Two school hours have remained the same.

He adds parents and school managements should ensure children report to school next week on the 18th May, and classes will resume on Tuesday.
