Government has put a proposal to the Bus Operators Association in attempts to streamline the distribution of fares to students under the free bus fare program.

The government committee which is overseeing the free bus fare program met late into the night yesterday and Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Lt. Colonel Pio Tikoduadua said they have come up with a number of options.

Tikoduadua said while they can not reveal the new proposals, they want to ensure that the funds are not given to the schools and allocated directly to individual bus companies.
