The interim government is planning to divest its interests in the Government Printing and Stationary Department as part of its ongoing reform program.

Cabinet last year had endorsed to conduct a preliminary study on the merits to divest the Government printing operations as other governments in countries like Australia and New Zealand have divested this operation to the private sector.

Interim Minister for Public Enterprise Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the study will allow cabinet to evaluate the merits of doing the same in Fiji or look at merits of other ownership structures for the department.
