The government is looking at establishing new diplomatic relations with all state members of the United Nations.

Fiji's Permanent Representative to the UN Peter Thomson said Fiji's intention is to build new relationships with the whole international community.

Thomson made the comments at the formal signing of diplomatic relations between Fiji and the Kingdom of Cambodia in New York.

Representing Fiji at the signing were Ambassador Peter Thomson and Counselor Luke Daunivalu of the Fiji Mission to the United Nations.

Cambodian counterpart Dr Sea Kosal welcomed the formalization of the new relationship between the two countries.
 
Ambassador Thomson said Cambodia was a founding member of the Non Aligned Movement that Fiji intended to join.
 
In the last three months, Fiji has formalized diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia, Georgia, Macedonia, Myanmar and the United Arab Emirates.
