The Ministry of Information has today stressed that the government had nothing to do with the Fijilive website going offline at the weekend.
Permanent Secretary for Information Sharon Smith Johns said there was some misunderstanding by the management of Fijilive who decided themselves to take the website offline.
The ABC and Radio Australia are now reporting that the Fiji government took the Fijilive website offline and detained their editor, however Smith Johns stressed that the editor of Fijilive being taken in for questioning was not linked to the site going offline.
She said once again the overseas media are misreporting on what happened.
Meanwhile, when contacted this afternoon, senior management of the Fijilive website were not available for comments.
