Government will only focus on health and education development.

This was the message Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama reiterated while addressing the different village head men from the fourteen villages in Koro.

This is after many of them asked that government assist in some way to ensure that they have proper village halls and churches.

Bainimarama told the villagers that he had gone around to various districts in the country, where his message was the same, “Government will focus on development projects that improve educational and health facilities of the rural communities.”

Many of the villagers had asked that Military engineers come and help in projects such as the building of village halls, however Bainimarama said that the engineers will only move when the Commissioner concerned gives the “OK” that the project focuses on education and health development.

Those gathered at Nacamaki were reminded that the key to alleviating poverty was through education and that was why government has introduced initiatives such as the free text book and the free bus fare program.
