Govt expenditure audit complete
Auditor General Tevita Volanivanua confirmed to Fijivillage that their reports and findings into government finances for the years 2007 and 2008 have been handed to Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and has been tabled in cabinet recently.
The Public Accounts Committee, which scrutinizes the Auditor Generals reports and outlines discrepancies and abuse within government departments and recommends disciplinary actions against public servants has recently being looking into the 2006 reports.
Volanivanua said his office is now working on looking through the governments 2010 accounts and the reason why the Accounts Committee is still handling 2006 reports is due to the fact that they have a huge backlog of reports to deal with.
He said, the Committee would get around to dealing with all reports in due time.
Members of the Public Accounts Committee are expected to comment later today on the matter.
