The Government will now wait for the Fiji Rugby Union to adhere to the agreements reached between the International Rugby Board and the FRU before any funds will be released to the Flying Fijians for the preparation of the Rugby World cup.
Sports Minister, Filipe Bole said the ball is now in FRU’s court to carry out necessary changes which they have agreed to with the IRB.
Bole added the Government is delighted that a resolution has been found.
Some of the key points of the agreement includes those involved in the lottery to stand down from the FRU Board, election to be held in the Annual General Meeting in April and FRU CEO’s resignation to be accepted or otherwise by the newly elected board.
FRU’s Interim Chairman, Rafaele Kasibulu is currently in a meeting with Keni Dakuidreketi.
One of the conditions is for those FRU executives directly involved with the FRU lottery to stand down.
We are now trying to confirm the names of people who were directly involved.
The FRU is expected to comment on the matter later today.
However we have received confirmation that the FRU will have a Special General Meeting on the 5th of March.
